The Peninsula Maternity Trust was founded on 17 January 2006 to provide much needed funding to ensure that Mowbray Maternity Hospital and its associated Midwife Obstetric Units are optimally equipped to provide quality medical services to their patients.
Since then the Trust has successfully mobilised resources to start replacing important equipment and improve facilities at the Hospital. Over the next five years, the Trust will implement the Centenary Campaign by fundraising for various projects identified by the Hospital which focus on refurbishment and improvement of certain areas within the facility and upgrading of equipment. The aim is to have successfully achieved these project targets by 2016 when Mowbray Maternity Hospital celebrates its centenary year.
In addition, the Peninsula Maternity Trust is fundraising for its own operational expenses to ensure sustainability beyond 2016.
The Peninsula Maternity Trust is a registered PBO with a Section 18A tax status, allowing the Trust to issue 18A receipts in respect of donations received. PBO number 930038587.
98% of the patients of the Hospital - and therefore the beneficiaries of funding - live in disadvantaged communities around Cape Town. Donations therefore qualify companies for BB-EEE points.
Having achieved recognition in 2007 for its outstanding performance in the field of healthcare by winning the "Premier's Service Excellence" Award for excellent service delivery in the Western Cape, Mowbray Maternity Hospital strives to provide world class healthcare to mothers and newborn babies for the next 100 years.
